The Cure Might Be A Band On A Porch

Pick a day, and I’m probably feeling woe is me about something.

Currently, it’s the classic: too many irons in the fire.

Ok Steve, take some darn irons out, amirite?

I was chatting with a good friend — the legendary former KoP stalwart and current entrepreneurial dynamo Matt Tanner (check out Same Page) — and we were chopping it up, as friends do, on a mid-morning text chain when an epiphany landed that felt oddly clarifying.

It’s the type of thought that, when repeated back, doesn't sound that profound…

But it is helpful.

When you're feeling unmotivated, you're likely missing one of two things:

👉 Motivation

👉 Inspiration

If it’s motivation: look in the mirror, give yourself the pep talk.

But if it’s inspiration? That one hits deeper. You start to wonder if you’re broken in some big way.

Don't worry, you’re not. You just need to get out, see something unexpected, hear something beautiful, or remember that you’re part of a city that’s very much alive.
