The Pursuit of "that summer feeling”

Summer used to feel like something epic, endless, and fun.

A too short part of the year where it was ok to wear the same clothes three days in a row, and wandering aimlessly felt like the right thing to be doing. It had a brand. It was random and long. Spent with people you love.

Now, even though my kids are spinning through camp schedules and backyard chaos, summer feels different. Like it’s speeding past me instead of soaking in. Maybe that’s just what happens when your calendar overflows. Or maybe it’s what happens when you don't want to miss a second of their childhood and also care so much about what you’re building.

Sometimes I wish for summer to feel slow again.

The problem is, I never want to quit working on King of Pops. And until I figure out how to better separate from this bad boy, I’ll probably always find myself knee-deep in some project that feels urgent, exciting, and slightly chaotic.

Lately I’ve been wondering if “I can’t believe it’s already [insert month here]” is on its way to becoming the new “I’m so busy.” Maybe both are subtle admissions that we’ve let time run the show.

So until then, I want to notice more this summer. I want to sneak in more breaks. Say yes to random stuff. Why you ask?

Well, because 'these are the good ol' days' of course.
