Action Required: Peak Amazing Weather

The weather will not get better than this. That thing you have no control over, the thing that can wreck a day and never seems to act right, is suddenly on its best behavior. And it looks like it might stick around.

Peak amazing.

In Atlanta, it’s easy to forget how rare these stretches are. We spend half the year sweating through our shirts, then brace for a damp, confusing winter.

Bad weather burns into memory. Great weather doesn’t. But great memories are easier to make when the weather’s on your side.

So go make some. I’ve got a few doozies below, but if you don’t have the energy for an “event” — that’s fine too.

Sit on a patio. "Accidently" have an impromptu conversation with your neighbors. Drink your coffee under a tree. Invite someone over for an Aperol Spritz (or a spaghett).

Humans adapt fast. Even to the best (check out the book The Haves and Have-Yachts to grasp this fully and do plenty of internal eye rolls). One perfect day after another and suddenly it feels normal. The trick is to not get numb to it. To notice. To let yourself be a little overly grateful.

My daughter's preschool teacher is amazing at this. She greets dozens of parents every day, and seems genuinely stoked when we talk about how nice it is outside.

And yes, Los Angeles folks will tell you their weather is “better” than ours. Fair point. But there’s something special about not having it all the time. When Atlanta decides to show off, it feels like a gift.

This is your reminder: the gift is here. Open it.
